What to write in a welcome home card

Ready-made lines for welcoming someone home safely - after a trip, Hajj, a posting or a hospital stay. There are short ones for a quick note, formal ones for a colleague or manager, warm ones for family, and lines to paste straight into the WhatsApp group. Copy one, or start a card with it already written and add the name.

Short

Formal - for colleagues and companies

  • I am delighted to welcome you back safely. I hope the trip achieved everything you set out to do, and I wish you continued good health.

  • Thank God you are back safe and sound. Welcome back to the team - we look forward to carrying on together with fresh energy.

  • May God accept your Hajj, reward your effort and forgive your sins - and thank God for bringing you home safely.

  • Welcome home safe after your service. We are grateful for all you gave, and we pray God keeps you and rewards you.

  • Thank God you are safe and fully recovered. We were so glad to hear you are home from the hospital, and we pray for lasting good health.

  • Warmest congratulations on your safe return, with my hope that what comes after the journey is even better than what came before.

For family and friends

  • Thank God you're home safe, my dear - the joy walked back in the door with you.

  • Mom, Dad - thank God you're home safe. The house was far too quiet without you, and now it's alive again.

  • Thank God you're home safe. The long trip is over, and the hugs start at the front door.

  • Thank God you're home safe from Hajj - may He accept your worship and forgive your sins. You've come back with a lighter heart, and our joy at having you here is beyond words.

  • All that matters is that you're back with us. Thank God you're safe and well again - the rest is easy.

  • Thank God you're home safe. The days were long without you - and at last there's laughter around the table again.

Questions about what to write

What do I write to someone back from travel or studying abroad?

Thank God for the safe return, then match the welcome to the time away: "thank God you arrived safely" is enough after a short trip, while "the house is brighter with you back" suits a long absence. End with something to look forward to - a family gathering soon, or pride in what they achieved abroad. Copy a line from above or start a card with it, add both names and send it on WhatsApp.

Can I use a safe return card for someone leaving the hospital?

Yes - it's one of the most common uses. Write 'thank God you're safe and well again' and leave out the illness and the treatment; the card is about coming home, not about what happened. Pick a calm design, add their name and yours, then share it as a WhatsApp link with its own preview, or download the image to print and leave by the bed.

When should I send it - before they land or after?

Send it once you know they have arrived, not before, so they read it with their mind at rest. A short line from this page in a WhatsApp message is enough in the first minute; the card can follow the same day or the next morning. If the whole family wants to welcome them back, one of you can send a single card signed "from all of us".

Questions

Is the Safe return card really free?

Yes. The words are already written for the occasion - you add the names, nothing more. The free card carries a small Lammigo logo and still has a printable PDF. One $3.99 payment removes the logo from 3 cards and adds a clean HD image, clean A4/A5 PDFs at 300 dpi, a QR code that opens the card, and a link that never expires.

How do I send it on WhatsApp?

Add the names, then tap Share on WhatsApp - it arrives as a link with its own preview. Or download the image and send that.
